Continuing our series in this article will be talked about the surface treatment of doors and windows. It turns up that what we have to keep in view in the case of wooden and plastic fenestrations.
COLOURS – SURFACE TREATMENT
The selected substance determines the opportunities of the colouring-surface treatment, so it is worth talking about it by substances.
PLASTIC FENESTRATIONS
The primary colour is clearly white, with homogeneous cross-section; the considerable part of the products is made in this way. The technical characteristics are the best ones here, the surface less vulnerable; case and leaf profile expansion-contraction coming from the change of temperature is about 1 mm/m at most following the change of seasons. This is an important viewpoint of the accurate adjustment of the hardware.
They prepare profiles with factory foil on a high pressure mounted in different homogeneous colours/red, green, grey, etc./ or in colours with wood imitation /golden oak, mahogany, etc./. The foil can be only outside, outside-inside, possibly only inside. The colour choice is limited, in the case of such claim it is necessary to enquire about the opportunities and the prices at the manufacturer/distributor. The colour extra charge depends on the foiled side/sides, on the actual colour, and perhaps on the quantity. It can be from15-20% to 40-60%, even more in special cases.
The other opportunity is the painting, also outside and/or inside or in full cross-section /in the middle, too/. They apply on the profile primer or cover layers in more layers. The colour is optional, generally the manufacturers work on the basis of RAL colour palette. The extra charge is generally spread from 15-20% to about 50%. The plastic painting is a very delicate operation, there is only few workshop specialized in it. The surface is more vulnerable than the foil, difficultly repairable, during its cleaning it is necessary to avoid the scrubbing-biting substances.
The thermal expansion of the profiles coloured outside, depending on the colour, can be 2-3 times larger compared to the white ones, which involves difficulties while setting the hardware.
WOOD FENESTRATIONS
We can talk about two kinds of surface: without a surface treatment /or base treated/ or surface treated. The base treatment is anyway proposed, this means insect-, mushroom and flameproof and surface treating priming. It can get on to this the local, generally manual painting before or after the building in. Their quality, their surface, their lifetime and their price is less than the factory surface treatment. The early surface treatment is important in terms of defending from environmental effects /UV radiation, high humidity, etc/.
The factory surface treatment means to apply in more layers primer and cover layers beside a constant and suitable temperature, humidity and technology. The quality and the lifetime of the surface are essentially better. The paint may be varnish, with different pigment content /covers less or better the design of the tree/ or full cover paint in optional RAL colour. The extra charge of the factory painting is approximately 15-40%; anyway it is worth making sure of the quality of the painting-polishing on sample constructions presented at the manufacturer/distributor.
COMBINED SUBSTANCE OR ALUMINIUM FENESTRATIONS
The aluminium surfaces are prepared in painted or dust scattered execution in optional colour. The durability of the surface compared to the previous is the best here, practically does not claim follow-up-treatment. The opportunities of the surface forming in case of combined surface fenestrations, depending on the applied substances, are the equivalent to the ones written down above.
